DFH - Defacto FreeEMS Hardware in KICAD
Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
I didn't understand the post, but if you mean you removed return traces from the components such that you have to wire it to the cpu and the path to the connector from fet is still a trace that needs cutting to use it then cool, I'm happy :-) Not as happy as I'd be without it, but happy enough.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
The currents sense digi protect resistor doesn't currently have a PCB trace going to the CPU pin.
So good news and bad news. I couldn't sleep, so I started moving the parts down making that run way. I've finished a bunch of the grunt work, now I've got to put the traces back in, so it will most likely have both the current sense and nicely run traces for the injection signals. I was planning on asking for a review tonight, but I won't have it ready. Fred this gives you more time to take a stab at the CPU pinout. But not much time. I'll probably have a reviewable draft ready Saturday night.

Too bad for you I just bought Spore. See you all in the 2010's.
Anyway, awesome - hopefully it goes faster this time. Are you still avoiding vias as much as possible?

Here's freeEMS 1.0 A.19 P.01 for review please
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfil ... _id=625957
For those with out KICAD, I've released a full PDF with the PCB as the last four pages. So this PDF is 45 pages, 41 schematic, and 4 PCB layout.
Can you folks review it checking things like current, voltages, and nets.
Here are some of the small things I've noticed. I think the nets are all connected correctly, but have been relying on KICAD to make sure it's good. I know there is a thing where the 10 amp fused net and the 2 amp fused net light up at the same time, I didn't connect them together, but still odd. Again KICAD is trying to be to smart, or I'm simply to dumb. Also DRC notes 5 errors, these are because my fuses have a 3 pad that isn't included in the schematic. Pad 3 is the built in fused link.
The only big thing I'm currently aware of is that traces from the CPU to the "run ways" hasn't been routed. I don't think this should be a big deal to get these from point A to B, when we have a stab at the pin-out.
So please review, and don't hesitate to inquire or note problems. I won't cry or bite.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
Oh, also if anyone can print this out full scale, and place chips on the layout, confirming the foot prints are OK or close to OK. That would be much appreciated. Also appreciated if someone can check them against the data sheets.
I'm busy most of the weekend, so my replies may be slightly delayed.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
I guess I get to find the first mild problem. I forgot to update the silk screen when I moved the ignition down. So updating the silk screen is added to the list of blunders on this release.
Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
It's been a couple days, probably needs a couple more days, but I haven't heard a review yet.
Right now I don't know what else to do with it, so I guess until I hear about the pin-out for the CPU, or until I hear a review that warrants changes, I'll put it slightly lower in priority. I need to find some parts for my little red suby, and such other projects that I've been putting off.
I've also started looking into PCB suppliers. I recently got to see some g10, that looked nice, and I've heard but haven't seen purple PCB material. I think freeems will often be displayed, so I'd like to find a nice color PCB.
Any how it's off to find a head light.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
Damned web-browser caching. I checked this thread a couple times over the weekend, but I think I had no internet connection since it kept showing that you "might come up with a design on sat".
Anyway, I'll get it all d/l'ed
_________
edit: Does it make sense to keep all the ".bak" files in there, etc? It seems like we might not want the clutter, for lack of a better term, esp in anything that's a 'release' version. I'd love to have every file in there have a use. I guess it's more a style thing.

Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
Hmmm, haven'r really looked at the .bak's. Is that KICAD creating them? I tend to leave the files titled filename~ which is the backup file from emacs. I often find the backup files handy and not really in the way.
Re: freeEMS_1.0 rev A KICAD
Very handy, but cna only be confusing when there's reviewers who might review a different version even out of the same revision package. Anyway, it's FAR from a big deal.
Certainly not as big a deal as the fact that the IT guy here broke my KiCAD
