What are your thoughts on "tuning devices" that use a narrow band sensor?. Can a NB be "offset" to measure between, say, 12.0:1 and 13.0:1 ??

NB i useless except for keeping catalytic converters happy by oscillating them back and forth past stoich...

Nope. They're pretty much only useful for an ECU (typically stock, aftermarket closed loop use should WB anyway) to maintain a stoich AFR during normal (not WOT/idle) closed loop operations.Marek0086 wrote:What are your thoughts on "tuning devices" that use a narrow band sensor?. That's not really true. They don't maintain stoich, they intentionally oscillate either side of stoich to make the catalytic converter work optimally. If they did want to maintain stoich, they couldn't do that either, swinging side to side is all they can do.malcom2073 wrote:Nope. I don't think thats true. The only reason they swing back and forth is because of the OEM ECU, isn't it?. Im pretty sure they could stabilize an output if the AFR was stable at stoich.

Then you clearly don't understand how narrowbands work. Sorry I couldn't explain it to you.

I have some idea. Why would the output swing back and forth... rich and lean... if the AFR is constant??
