I've been testing for Ben on OLV for the last few days, and hacking in more development tests and measures to keep the code base straight while not helping him.
Today something got shipped to me. Exciting news :-) I owe someone more than a few favours, or euros, or dollars, or something like that.
ProjectUnlucky is on its way to reality :-)
OLV is on its way to release! In a few days I'll try to knock it out :-)

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
Parts for this arrived earlier today. I've been working steadily on it along with assisting Ben with OLV hackage. He just needs to do an mvn site tidy up and then OLV is all mine to spruce up and release :-) Looking forward to that!Fred wrote:My top secret project is underway!
Next mile stones are performance improvements and UI reworking after which it should be really very very usable and quite good!

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
Ben handed OLV over to me for code review today, and it's not too bad. If he feels like sorting out what I found, it shouldn't take him more than an hour or so absolute max. After that it's all mine to hack on and make compatible with firmwares for the next 6 or so months, unlike older OLVs which were hard coded.
I also got my Jag working with an FT232RL chip, which is good. So SM dev can commence, as can project "omg, why won't you tell us you bastard!" :-)

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
Also, progress on the new SM is being made, and OLV hacking is being done. A guy wrote some code for me, and I found a few minor issues in it, but it's already very useful, so things are looking up in the world :-)

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
New temporary SM is available from this post: viewtopic.php?p=28948#p28948
The functionality change is to eradicate the PNP hack previously required on all FTDI and other non-RS232 setups. Please use it if it helps you and report back on whether it's any good where appropriate.
It seems that priming pulses may have broken the firmware by meaning that if you reset the device while the engine is spinning you subsequently get no outputs :-(
The missing tooth correctness issue should be knocked out in a day or three too. More testing tomorrow on that.

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
Neither I nor Peter could replicate the dying firmware on reset thing, so that might be a red herring.

Re: Fred's firmware development diary
Project top-secret finally has a (sanitised) screen shot to share! :-)

I have a lot of other info to collate and dig through and make sense of too.
