Get hold of some serial app and follow the instructions for the monitor code that is on it and verify that it's running and making sense. That would be a good start.
In terms of loading software to it, I don't know what the deal is with the existing monitor, and you need the BDM to change to the other one. Once you do, you will need either mtxloader or freeemsloader. I plan to develop some superior SM code that works better in the future, you can help me test that, too :-)
I can't help you with the BDM software, you'll have to figure that out for yourself or ask on appropriate forums other than this one. I have the same BDM (i think it's the same) but have not been able to use it so far for a variety of reasons. When you're working on it, please document everything that you do in a thread on here. I don't care which section, choose one and I'll move it somewhere later if necessary. It'll be good documentation for others who follow :-)
I use a mix of mtxloader and FreeEMS-Loader for my loads, just to provide testing for them. I may switch to a util of my own in future, but not yet, I'm holding out to try Sean's latest greatest version.

BTW, if you can't make the BDM function, you can hack the firmware instead. You need to relocate vector tables and start addresses and memory definitions and so on, I can't help with that, but it shouldn't be tooooo hard.

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
I did the samples run that deuseEFI pointed out to us in the Jaguar project and most of that stuff is on its way to me
And the the nice people from National Semiconductor send me 5x LM1949N and 5x LM1815M
The nice people from maxim send me 3x MAX9926UAEE+
And for the rest i am still waiting for parts from Ebay
I hope i get most of the stuff this week and that i can start whit some soldering and make first contact whit the s12x
Do i need a C++ compiler and if yes what is a good compiler for use an a windows7 machine? (CodeWarrior isnt Fred's nr1 choise i red some where)
What other software i have to look for to make my computer make first contact whit the s12x?

You need a serial app, try realterm for winblows: http://sourceforge.net/projects/realter ... /2.0.0.57/
Real term may misbehave, if so, try different serial settings in the firmware and realterm and see if you can make it work.
For the firmware compiler tools, go here: http://tools.diyefi.org
You need to beg Dave for a windows build of MTX. I can't help you with this.
You need to harass Sean about a working Loader for windows. I can't help you with this.
You'll need to sort out something to work with your BDM. I can't help you with that either, sadly.

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
And if i had Ubuntu on my comp would that be a bit more handy?
I am learning Linux and i must say: shame on me for not having it on my comp before

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
Once you get used to it it's actually very much preferable to windows :-)
Yes, Ubuntu will simplify your FreeEMS life, at least for the time being.
With Linux you don't need to beg Dave or Sean, however the BDM thing might be even harder or maybe impossible. I don't know yet. Keep windows around for that purpose just in case.

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
The TBDML is made to work whit Codewarrior so i cant get rid of Windows just yet
(the driver i have for the TBDML are windows only)
I dont think i can get code warrior to work in Linux
I think "first contact" has to be made whit codewarrior so the TBDML functions
But first the postman has to bring me my "USB 2.0 to 9 Pin Serial RS 232 thingy"
I hope he brings it soon

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
You can make first contact with the existing software using any platform (and your yet-to-arrive adapter) however, yes, you need winblows to load the correct 2k SM onto it. There is a linux codewarrior, though I've not installed it yet, because it has a dodgy installer. I'll make a VM and install it in that once I've had a RAM upgrade.

Re: MC9S12XDP512 board
Harry, I don't think it's fair to give up like this. You're trying to get stuff working alone without talking to the developers. It's not a finished system, talking to developers while getting stuff working is mandatory, not optional, at this point. Please get in IRC on freenode on #freeems and tell us *exactly* what is not working, how you know it's not working, what you could get done, how you installed stuff, etc. Unless you do that, you're flying blind and our hands are tied/we're not able to help you.
Firmware should build inside a git bash prompt on win 7, I know this for a fact because I've done it. It might even build in a CMD window, though in future it won't.
FreeEMS-Loader has a windows installer somewhere, but it was very experimental and not tested. Other than that, it can't be used on windows at all, yet. This is Sean's priority once binutils work is done, I promise. It may be able to be built on windows, but i don't know if anyone has tried. You'd need cygwin and you'd be doing it for the first time, no hand holding.
MegaTunix can't be built on Windows, but can run there, IF you can get the latest release in an exe installer. I'll direct Dave here and see if he'll put up a directory of experimental/test installers on the official site for win users like yourself.
OpenLogViewer is developed on windows and works on mac/linux/windows very well, guaranteed.
CuteCom is mac/linux only, but there are windows alternatives.
You shouldn't need anything else except the BDM stuff which Andy is working on a guide to. On Ubuntu, all should work. If you get in IRC on ubuntu we can help you get it working, no problems.
