Found these vids posted on the VWvortex. Follows the development of an F1 engine from ground up in the 1980s. Of special note is the engine management system, which is thoroughly covered. Watching these guys work on the electronics reminds me a lot of fighting with MegaSquirt on various cars

Downloading, to watch later, now. First one is 200mb and only .flv :-)
Thanks for the link, btw, you missed something important for those short on time: Which video has the EMS stuff in it?
Cheers,
Fred.

I have two comments so far:
1) The massive engine failure thing reminds me of me.
2) It's hilarious watching pencil pushing geeks working on a high powered engine!
Back to the show.

They had to have been better off letting their software handle things rather than doing PW by a pot! Just during starting alone conditions change a great deal. Downloading part 2 now.

Epic video, I feel inspired, not by the electronics (they'd have been better off with FreeEMS) but by the sound and engineering and performance, very sweet.

A 1UZ-FE or KL-ZE would make a wonderful chassis! :-) Hmmmm...
