Can you save these in a more portable format next time? Perhaps .cvs, .pdf or some such format. I've installed Openoffice 2.3, but can't seem to figure out how to open the .ods file.

From a shell "openoffice.org XDP512-freeEMS-pin-assignment.ods" opens a "filter selection dialog". When I choose opendocument database, it opens a spread sheet thing, but appears to be empty. When I click tables, I get an error message that it can't connect to the table. From the pull downs, Edit --> database --> properties I get a note that the URL is "jdbc:"

Perhaps the actual data base wasn't included and this file? Could this file be a link to the real database? Not sure. Good chance I don't know how to navigate OO.

It's hard to be more portable than ODS :-p

It would be a total mess as a csv file because I use colour and row hiding extensively to make it visually readable.

I tried exporting to PDF, but didn't have much luck.

A screen shot of it as png might work, but would be BIG and hard to snap as it's a big spread sheet.

Google docs imports it "ok" but not perfectly.

Although it is possible that you suck at using it, I've had this problem before when my installation has been broken. Perhaps try to install it properly and/or use the latest version. Certainly it is no database file, just a spread sheet.

I installed with "yum install openoffice.org" and I just checked that I've got the latest available with "yum upgrade openoffice.org". Should be nothing very special about that. It's 2.3, latest is 2.4. Many distro's don't have 2.4 supported yet, and 2.3 should technically be fine for this. 2.4 is mostly minor fixes. I'm sure you're not using the beta 3.0, right.

If it doesn't work on a slight variation(s) of Linux, I don't think that's very portable ;)

"...yum..." there's your problem :-p

Seriously, something is broken with your install, rip it out and put in a new one, or just download the package from the web and install manually, its a java app, it will run happily without a flash install. I install eclipse manually every time to get the latest version just the same.

Try removing it with yum and reinstalling it with yum. Try running as root, perhaps those permissions are biting you in the arse again.

Professionally structured release, you make my drinking sound more than it is.

I really should upgrade to duel heads, I've got the displays, I just don't have the slots for a new card, and I'm to cheap to buy a new duel head when I've got one that works.

I'm hoping to check it out tomorrow morning, before I head off for RallyX. Should be fun tomorrow.

Not at all, GFDL FTW :-)

Looks good, just beware that it is going to change. I already have a few more columns for state of pins during reset and after poweroff in the latest version here. If you want to maintain a PDF version as I release ODF ones I would be most pleased as it would keep it accessible for the OO-retarded and my mate Cam that hates OO with a vengeance :-)

Do shorten the name and give yourself some credit in the copyright though won't you. Not doing that would not be in the spirit of FOSS software! :-)

Thanks! :-)

Well here's a vendor for that MG Chemical translucent copper clad

http://www.abra-electronics.com/product ... -2518.html

Doesn't come in a Euro card standard size, so there will be a fair bit of scrap if this material is used. Also it's 1oz copper, not 2oz like I had drawn it up as. So traces might need to get wider to use this stuff.

OK, KICAD advice please:
Does anyone know where to get a footprint for the little screw terminal blocks? I want to replace that single row connector at the bottom of this with one:

After a multi-month break from all this, I want to get back into things. Also, I have the Mazda (and I think honda uses it too) OEM connector footpring available for anyone who wants it. Probably, though, you should wait till I make one and see that it works. :-)

Perhaps using an OEM connector for the FreeEMS is a good idea, cheap and easily had? Another thread, anyway. I just want to know about screw terminals. Thanks!

I'm sure you've checked the included library, as well as looked at the KICAD contributors libraries ( http://www.kicadlib.org/ ), If you don't find it there, you can always make a custom symbol. I've had luck with the ones I've made for my layout.
