DIYEFI (Fred's) 1990 Volvo 740 Wagon [SOLD!]

Post by m2cupcar »

Fred left this at my house and it needs to go- primarily because Fred is near depleting his holiday fund and that means no more vino. Figured I'd post it up here in case somebody was interested in it for reasons beyond cheap transportation. I'll probably put it out front with a sign on it this weekend if there's no interest.

Car has fresh oil and a new radiator. I've driven it around for the last couple of weeks w/o issue. My observations below. Fred feel free to add anything.
If interested, shoot me a PM or call 4o4-78~4_6~5~47. Car is 5 miles due East of downtown Atlanta, GA. - Rob
1990 Volvo 740 DL Wagon, good automatic transmission, power windows, blue exterior, black leather interior, 2.3L (no turbo). I'm going to call this car a reliable daily driver since it recently made a trip across the U.S. and Canada without a single mechanical problem. I've been driving the car locally for the last couple of weeks without any issues too. Not a lot of power but great mileage for a car of this size/weight. All power windows, locks, air conditioning and heat work. Factory tow package with trans cooler and hitch. Sunroof opens and shuts. Though there's stains around the headliner, I didn't find any moisture after the recent crazy rains.

What doesn't work? heated seats, cruise control and the power antenna cable is broke- motor still works. Stereo has some kind of issue where the audio gets muddled, but you can bop it with your hand to fix it, or wait and it will do it on its own. Clear coat is peeling on the roof and hood. Driver seat is just starting to unstitch at the seat bottom seams. Headliner is droopy. Only rust is by the passenger side tail light as seen in the photo. Dash has several cracks. New shocks would be a luxury.

IMO the car is in very reasonable aesthetic shape for the age and mileage. And seems to be in great mechanical shape. Fresh oil change too. Insurance is the same as my 90 Miata for the same coverage. Have title in hand. Cash deal. Cheap way to keep mileage off your fav car.

Well, you certainly have a sharp eye for rust! I didn't notice that! :-)

I'm sad to see it again, I miss that car!

Thanks for going to the effort of taking pics and posting up the description, you're a legend, as always.

I'll link this around various places.

I'd love to, but I already bought that car once. :-)

Actually, I have to say, I really liked it. Want to trade for a 97 sentra?
