1) Debur and weld plates over holes in housing, leak test with petrol or meths or something thin
2) Debur and derust the free-wheeling spool
3) Clean more muck from rear cover and/or housing - had a good crack tonight, but more to go
4) Paint any bare or rusty steel with black zinc of some sort
5) Reassemble with RTV for back cover
6) Reassemble the brakes
Then I can pull the G80 axle from the caravan and install this contraption! :-D
After which the G80 can go into the 740 sedan and spin some sweet donuts :-)
Is that a veiled way of saying it's a complete waste of time? If not, it likely should be, but I don't mind. The "gainz" are real, even if they don't really matter much. It's mostly about the weight, but also about lower friction.
