Capacitive fuel level sensor

Post by KW1252 »

Here's something that came up... a fuel gauge without a float.

Looks like it could replace the standard gauge sensor with little effort.

I got a fuel pump from a motorcycle for my goal of a fuel injected snow blower. The fuel guage appears to simply be a wire in the tank, no float, and typically submerged. I think the circuit you posted is exactly how it was used to measure the fuel level. Thanks for the link, I've been trying to figure out how they used that guage.

Now that has some cool possibilities for oil level indication using the dipstick with a silicone heatshrink up the majority of the stick with just the tip exposed in the oil.
or water level for intercooler spray, or water/meth injection levels.

Very cool circuit indeed, good hunting!
