O2 sensor drama:

I placed the order for one of Alan's sensors and thought I'd be able to put a comment in before the order completed (that's how it used to work for me anyway). Instead, it said the order was complete and showed my old shipping address in Baton Rouge. I e-mailed Alan at his listed e-mail address (the same one for PayPal) immediately after and provided my correct shipping address. Two days later, a shipping noticed appeared in my inbox that said the item was being shipped to Baton Rouge. The item arrived there and was set aside to be mailed to me here in Manhattan, but has since disappeared. The family looked everywhere with no success and my mother insists on paying me the cost of the sensor. Knowing how things operate back at home, I can't imagine what could have happened to it.

Anyway, back to placing a new order. Will update my PayPal address first.

Hope my post didn't come across as a complaint as the error was entirely mine from the start. I've corrected my PayPal address and will contact you to place another order. Thanks for making such great products!

Unbiased comment: Alan's a great guy. I already knew this based on what's been said about him, his products, and from what he's written.

Biased comment: Alan's a great guy. Here's why:

Image

Alan contacted me and offered to throw in a free AFR gauge with my replacement order. While this is immensely generous, the oversight was mine and I turned him down. We got to talking and he made some good points, so I opted to change the order to his SLC gauge and O2 sensor combo. Those both arrived and I noticed that the bill only reflected the price of the original Lambda sensor. I knew he made a suggestion along those lines, but didn't register that it would be that much of a discount. BUY ALL YOUR PRODUCTS FROM THIS GUY. I'm sure he has old clothes that no longer fit him too which you'd all look great in.

Thanks to Alan and 14point7.com for the above-and-beyond service and fantastic products! :)

And on that note, my PayPal account has been corrected.

Edit: This is quality stuff!

+1 :-) Got the Spartan setup on the WikiSpeed car and it was working nicely!

Had a look at this, but didn't get a chance to fire it up and try it. Was fun hanging out with y'all. Looking forward to next time, somewhere different! :-)

Two days back into Kansas after the FreeEMS North America meet and I'm missing Vancouver! The fact that it was -15dC this morning here and 5dC there doesn't help.

The core meet was split into two major parts:
  1. Debugging, developing, tuning, and drinking at the WIKISPEED shop in Seattle (11/20-22)
  2. Debugging, developing, bonding, and drinking at Sim's in Vancouver (11/22-11/24)
In all, a huge success. Everyone got along great, the wine never ceased to flow, and the above combination led to some intense teamwork and output followed by a more relaxed atmosphere for conversation, tutorials, and teambuilding/camaraderie. Even the train rides between Seattle and Vancouver led to some good dev work and joking around.

Photos and videos still need to be parsed, but I'm hopeful that we have enough media to pull from to properly represent the occasion.

The big question is, when and where is the next meet? Should they be regional?

Well Fred has made clear his intention to have NZ meets, so I say we should have our own! :)

DeuceEFI is about 8 hours from both of us, well within driving distance if he doesn't mind holding a meet. Maybe springtime? :)

I'm fine with that and would easily drive the distance to camp out (would be a good reason to buy a truck bed-tent or make one).

If he's genuinely supportive of the idea, it shouldn't be too hard to set a date sooner than later.
