I'm looking forward to your new thread in the vehicles section! I already updated the chart and have a US flag at number 23, but no description or URL! :-p

+1 on the look happy thing! Great to see you looking that way! :-)

Also, add something to the top of the video description about it being so quiet/smooth/easy to start for first time, that you didn't quite realise it was running, re the grind.

Screen shot showing interaction between MAP, PW, VE (flat 50%), AFR (not shown) and RPM. http://stuff.fredcooke.com/ToxicTacomaF ... ations.png

What are your thermistor pull up values?

Fred.

Thanks, masterkorp and Matthijs! I read the forums almost in full and troll the IRC channels, so both of you plus many others here have my respect and appreciation. :)

Thanks, Hentai. Your enthusiasm was encouraging and contagious during your migration away from M$ equipment and I appreciate your contributions here.

And you're absolutely correct about the blue and I won't argue against it. However, it was wire that was readily available and I knew I wouldn't be happy with any color combination unless it matched the OEM loom, so it was a matter of sacrificing OCD tendencies in favor of getting the job done. Once the case is sealed, it'll hopefully hold out for some time and can be taken for granted.

Looking forward to seeing your FreeEMS/Jaguar controlled Miata tuned and dynoed!

I just looked back over your comments and realize that you have the higher-end transmission that shipped in Tacomas. Mine's an A43D, which is the sort of transmission that you'd see in Celicas, some Volvos, and a few other automotive oddities. However, the premise is similar and I have all the electrical documentation.

but it will function (albeit crudely) if you manually shift it through the gears.
Are the limited gears because of how you chose the make the changes? I'll take a look through you're writeup for more detail.

A couple other attempts people have made:

With that kind of blessing, what can possibly go wrong? Looking forward to giving this a try.

It's hard to find any transmission that will cleanly mate to the 2RZ-FE, so I'd likely either go with a W59 (the stock manual) or buy a bellhousing from Marlin Crawler and get a Toyota R-series transmission. Unfortunately, I can't find a W59 on Craigslist anywhere from here to back home nor on eBay. And Marlin Crawler hasn't written me back yet about the bellhousing that doesn't appear on their site anywhere with a pricetag (guess it's no longer produced).

I have one installed A43D and one on my kitchen floor. That seems like the easiest and most practical path right now for getting the truck moving under FreeEMS, but I'd love to eventually switch to a manual. There's also another alternative I'm considering, but it'll take a while even if that comes to fruition. I'll keep trolling for a W-series transmission, however. Anything with a different bolt pattern and spline count will be too big a pain in the butt to deal with right now.

Honestly, if the box is reliable, stick with it. Once you manualise it, you'll quite like it. Even I, slush box anti-christ, didn't mind em_knaps' manualised auto. Some of my biggest complaints about them are the way they shift and when they shift, which you control once you manualise it, or add your own controller.
