If that's incorrect, please let me know! :-)

I'm totally fine with you not wanting to use FreeEMS because I'm "a dick" :-)

As for simple stuff, I agree, the simpler the better, and that's one of the things that I currently like about FreeEMS, it's *very* straight forward once you cut through the crappy half-finished software that surrounds it and limited hardware options. I will always be trying my best to maintain this while adding various features.

Also, I didn't know BS3 had stuff locked down Motec style, yuck!

Old is very capable or new is very capable? I've heard others saying lots of bad things about the older ones, too.

i have around 30 of the older ones, and about 8 of the new, that i ether installed or set up.

99% of the time there was a problem is was a case of the previous person did not read the fucking manual.
They are not like some ecu's where things are labeled in English, like the compensation for timing drift for charge time in a vr pickup.

They are made for AEM buy GEMS, the same people that make engine, power and drive train ecu's, for international rally including WRC.
They just carried over their nomenclature to AEM.

Plenty of Omex users in the AE86 community, seems legit. Dont have any personal experience with it though.

Neither would I, but only because no schematics or layout files are available to QC/peer-review it. Also, do you mean the first 4 layer one, or the newer 6 layer variant?
