Done tonight, with a slight hack that I'll clean up when I get a chance. On a temp branch until then. Needs an angle tweak too, and more of the sync points implemented, but this is good enough for the time being. Sync inside 360 degrees max as is, syncing only on inner track.

First one shows that you might wait up to 4 edges before you get sync, depending on engine position when you hit the key:
