Wait a minute, I was there!!! And it didn't run, yet! :-p

I feel TOTALLY ripped off, I wanted to post this thread, but thought I'd wait till we actually succeeded, and you beat me to it! :-)

We'll get the title of this thread changed to include (4th) pretty soon, don't worry.

This thing made an appearance at a local car club meet tonight, strapped to the back of a ute (light truck) and loud as all hell, it ran in front of a crowd of around 30 and got some applause :-) Well done Preston!!!!

I'm trying to sort out my in car video camera. All going well I should have some great footage.

Only a few more days before your trip. Have a safe trip and we will hear from you when you get there.

Good luck.

I had to dig this info up tonight, so I thought I'd share it here :-)

The decoder for the 4age was developed over 6 hours and 14 minutes starting at 859pm and ending at 313am with a visit from the lovely Rula in the middle saying "do you guys realise that it's 230am???" :-)

If you run the following command and scroll to the very end and then read back up, it chronicles the dev process that evening :-)

Code: Select all

git log 9b8d3411c8975e3b170c1b27a353dfd35ebda3bd^..491707b57653cbec99bc78a513a42c84c862954b
Note the time stamps! What better way to tell an epic story :-)

This post is long over due! I'm sure Fred would agree.

May I introduce the dedicated FreeEMS test bed !! 4age on a stand.... it's come along way from the 'engine on dodgy engine stand' on the back of the ute flaming at a meet :)
There however is one thing completly unchanged and that ofcourse is FLAME throwing action!

The 4age has been mounted so that it everything is easily accessible including removing the sump and internals.
It's still a work in progress, but has run! see the vid http://youtu.be/BcQ5ILok9PI

I'd like to send a BIG thanks out to Joel Hall for helping to fund this project! and Fred for making it happen. Ur da man :P

Sensor cables are run via the top channel (a steel channel sealed welded to the control panel that is covered with black tape). Noisy driving signals run together through cable tidy's and are taped to the underneath of the steel channeling.
Below that is the starter wire and alternator wires.
Blue tube is the vacuum tubing for the MAP sensor.
Brown is the fuel line (since been replaced for real fuel line, not a LPG hose :D )

Puma PCB connected (on anti-static matting) with, TPS, IAT, CHT, MAP, RPM 1 & 2 (24 + 1 from 4age dizzy), Paired injection, wasted spark, fuel pump.
