Where your trusty admin is from (NZ scenery) No 56K (at all)

Post by Fred »

I thought I'd slap up some pics of the homeland so that if I have a fit of homesickness like last night in the supra thread, you can see why :-)

This is the north shore of central auckland :

The lake I used to swim in most summer days to wash grease/sweat off from working on my ute or skyline (Lake Pupuke) :

Milford beach with Rangitoto in the background :

Bare in mind that that is right in the middle of the dirtiest least nice part of the entire country. Most times I swam in the lake I was alone there.

As you know, I used to live in Taupo - the lake / mountains kick arse all year round.

Now I am in the Wairarapa, am an hours drive from my familys batch at cape paliser - so beautiful and remote for a place so close :D On a clear day you can see Kairoura

Yeah, Taupo is a stunning spot :-)

Especially this bit :

;-)

Last time we were down I stripped off (horrible though isn't it) and had a swim in the lake, after spending all day flat out in a helmet and overalls, it was VERY nice!

Yeah man. Or nothing like some beers on a summers arvo at the beach, just sit the swappa crate in the water to keep it cool :D

"swap a crate" :-) very "when I was 5 years old dad used to drink those"

You can still get them in a few places in Auckland too, but no where near as common as they once were.

LOL, the entire country has a fairly serious drinking culture/problem. Though, my sister tells me that she is put to shame by the pohms over here in london. She can out drink me 5:1. I just enjoy a good wine like the snob that I am :-)

That boat has a keg facility built in with a tap coming out of one of the ice boxs :-)
