How can i tell if i burned out my chip?
I have it configured according to schematics found here::
https://github.com/DeuceEFI/Jaguar/blob ... ematic.pdf
i am not sure that i didn't misconnect some wires on the breadboard
but now when i connect +5 to the RPM0+ the led light barely dims.
The led needs to turn off correct?

Based on what you wrote, I would highly recommend that you read the data sheet and gain some understanding of how it actually works. Then you can diagnose it effectively.

Re: Did I burn out my max9926?
Well I probably broked my max9926 because i wasn't careful about the inputs and i was reckless trying to make the ecu read the rpms..
but on another point: looking at the jaguar pdf for the max9926::
https://github.com/DeuceEFI/Jaguar/blob ... ematic.pdf\
and the schematic for pg 15 mode a2
https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/ ... AX9927.pdf
it seems the led between cout1 (resistored) and +5v should not be on unless the max9926 detects a signal? (max9926 page 6)?
