Bump so you read KLAS' post. Good point re charging systems. :-)

weird, KLAS post didn't show up on my phone and internets been spotty at the house the last couple days.

I will say that it is a good use of a PWM chip. Im not opposed to using an analog chip and amplifying the signal if it works well. A few varible resistances to tune the circuit by knobs and this would be marketable as it is.

There was a silicon chip article and you could get kits locally for years.

I couldn't find the kit or info about the article online, yet. I may have an actual kit, though. Will check next time I'm in my storage.

Drum roll: No kit, but I have the printed out instructions from way back then on real paper :-D

September 1997 was the Silicon Chip article. K-3307 was the dick smith kit catalogue number. It used IR2155 self-oscillating drivers.

If you ask very nicely and are very very patient I'll eventually photograph/scan and upload. Maybe you can search it out online, though? I'm not going to try.

Fred.

You still don't need CDI, though... :-p

PS: You owe Andy some cash or an apology, get on it! ;-) This community is too small to earn a bad rep. :-)
