DELETE PLEASE? very sorry FrEDIT: No.

I tried everywhere but could only find them in this thread

viewtopic.php?f=62&t=1731

FETs or FET drivers? In either case, there are plenty of both available.

Typing in all caps is generally considered yelling, and should be avoided much like needless yelling in person

That being said, 30 seconds of googling the part number (VNP14NV04-E) got me this:

http://uk.farnell.com/stmicroelectronic ... dp/1739424

Granted it's the 4th link down in the google search... depending on your screen size you may have missed it by not scrolling down.... but it's there none the less. In stock, ready for next day shipping.

Adjust your attitude, and fast. Or you'll be locked out of the community in which you want to participate.

And answer my necessary question!!! Mike took a stab, but there's no knowing what you meant, because you were vague and imprecise. Taken at face value Mike was wrong.

Consider yourself warned.

Sorry about that. It was a quick reply, no offence intended. I am searching for a mosfet to drive my injectors. The ones on the jaguar buid are all Surface mount. I guess it might be possible to use ?? surface mount on a simple perfboard, but I was hoping for an easier through hole type mounting.

There is no easy guide on "which fets are the recommended fets to drive your injectors", so I was searching these forums for days to find the correct one to order.

I could not find a non surface mount injector driver mosfet?, or any guide in the hardware/user support section. I asked for help and thanks very much for your reply but I was/am? still as lost as ever.

I dont want my first thread to be like this.... I will try now to create a new one and improve... and hopefully delete this..

FrEDIT: New thread starts below, my reply was before I realised it wasn't the same thread.

I tried everywhere to find the correct ones to buy but could only find them in this thread on our forum
Image
viewtopic.php?f=62&t=1731

but they are obsolete/hard to find this type:
MOSFET OMNIFETII 40V 12A TO-2203
VNP14NV04-E
Image

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/e ... ND/1852836
http://www.st.com/st-web-ui/static/acti ... 000217.pdf

I also thank malcom2073 for suggesting VNP14NV04-E (the same as the first few)

That being said, 30 seconds of googling the part number (VNP14NV04-E) got me this:

http://uk.farnell.com/stmicroelectronic ... dp/1739424
also
I just found the same as above for sale here::
http://parts.arrow.com/item/detail/stmi ... v04-e#R2gF

I was curious would these work correctly to drive the injectors? Is there any advantages or disavantages to using the surface mounted ones used in the jaguar build?

Apologise! And answer my question!

EDIT: You did, via PM, no deleting this, though. Your record stays as it is. Please answer the question. Locking both threads while I go for a swim. Will merge them and re-title after that.

EDIT2: The new thread title makes it clear what you're looking for. Apology accepted, carry on!

Reopened! FETs of many types will work:

If it's NOT logic level then it needs a FET driver.
If it IS logic level, you can drive it from a CPU directly. << this is good.

Aside from that you want:

Low RDS-On < lower the better, not over 200milli ohms IMO, less if driving more injectors with one FET.
1.5 - 2 times the current you plan to draw, or more < a bit of a buffer is wise, as there can be peaks of current aside from normal loading
40V+ WITH clamp, or 100V+ without < spikes are in the 100v range, so clamp is almost necessary...
overtemperature thermal shut down < useful but not required
short circuit protection/over current protection < useful but not required

Such things are available from almost all manufacturers. SMD ones suck as DPAK and especially DPAK2 are EASY to hand solder as Aitor proved on his DIY setup.
