That's right, no need to install codebloatier, just mod the script! Right now latest version for Linux is 4.9.4 from sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/usbdm/files/Note, the 4.9.5 version does not have a Linux variant. Grab it, grab my modded script from here: http://stuff.fredcooke.com/Install_USBDM_NO_CWDrop it into the dir next to the original named Install_USBDM and execute it as root with "sudo ./Install_USBDM_NO_CW" Then apt-get install libxerces-c3.1 and you're good to go. Tested on my mostly virgin eee just now. Fuck codewarrior, may its 2.7gig download of nasty encrypted binary installer crap rot in hell :-) Fred.

"There's a script for that."
Great job, dude. This is really exciting, even for n00bs like me.

Lol, Hooray, great, wicked..... And then me!
I've followed the above, you made it nice and easy. I can see the applications etc but they do a Schultz for me.
Should I be updating the usbdm.rules aka moving/replacing. (though I've already updated that, I think I got the iD etc around the right way. lol)

Why are you fiddling with the rules file? Don't fiddle :-p
Did it install OK with sudo? If so, and you can't get it to work with the HW, try running the app with sudo too. The app is:
USBDM_Linux_V4.9/Utilities/HCS12_FlashProgrammer
Install it again to ensure it removes whatever hacks you did with the rules file. And unplug/replug the device after that.

changed the rules to amend the idvendor and idproduct. But I was reading the .rules in the CW and it says "move me to here" etc etc. Though that may just be a comment and it does it automatically.
I'll try running the app with sudo.
Cheers

CW? you shouldn't even have codebloatier. The install script at the top of this thread, when executed as root, from the same spot as the one it replaces, does just what you need, nothing manual required.

sorry not in CW, just in the file (can't think of right now) where everything is. Utilities? perhaps.

OK, no need.
Get 4.9 zip/tgz, download, open, cd inside, wget my script, chmod +x my script, sudo ./myscript, done.
Did you download the right thing? Older ones did not have the flash util.
Fred.
