LC-1 units are generally good, other people I have read about have had problems with them, but I havent had any issues with the ones I have used and currently still use though.

The SLC OEM units are meant to be the bee's knee's too !

I've got an LC-1 and SLC_OEM eval kit, I don't have both here, but I should get some use out of the SLC pretty soon and it certainly seems encouraging! For the price, it's hard to beat it. LC-1 is still a nice choice too, though they do have issues from time to time. Like Dan, I've not personally suffered those issues.

With the eval kit, you could potentially move your SLC module inside onto a future jag board to save space in your coupe ;-)

If I was going for the LC1 I'd probably go the 209 usd way and get the gauge almost for free. However having lambda on the dash is pretty much just for boosted apps where it HAS to be right or you melt shit. NA stuff really doesn't need that and you could do without the lambda on the car full time. It's still nice for logging and track days etc though. If you're whinging about firmware and driveability, I'm going to want O2 in the log :-)

Thanks Dan and Fred for info on the LC-1 and the SLC, I just wanted to make sure I ordered one similar to what others were using to make troubleshooting issues easier.

For NA applications do you recommend only using the wideband for tuning/troubleshooting and a narrowband for daily use or should I just stick to using the wideband as the only O2 sensor?

Narrow bands aren't much use for anything except oscillating through stoich to keep cats functioning properly. You can do that with a wideband too, though. I see no reason for most people to use a narrow band sensor. If you have one on there already and don't mind adding a second bung, then you could log both. The narrow sensor could let you know when your wbo2 sensor is failing or becoming inaccurate, or vice versa, IF setup right and code added.

This is probably answered a thousand times already...but what is the difference in lifetime between a (properly controlled and mounted) Bosch LSU4.9 and a narrowband lambda ?

No idea, but 4.9 wasn't on the table anyway, was it?

The life of the wideband depends on the tune, power level, heat levels, rich/lean levels, etc. If there is any lead, its in hours, not years. I think they're supposed to go 100,000km or so, though. Pretty cheap if you think like that.
