Essential FreeEMS HW Development Tasks

Post by Fred »

The following things need doing before a rock solid final FreeEMS hardware design of any sort can be made.
Many of this may be able to be fixed with some simple controlled SM changes:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1232

The results of this testing/dev are:
  • Able to assign key functions to PORTA pins (last 4 inj channels for 12 cyl, various low speed core IO)
  • Able to drive external ignitors reliably and with good spark strength
  • Able to use laptop with inverter AND Able to boot into firmware without PNP hack
  • Able to assign fuel pins and maybe even move ign pins off timers opening them to speed sensor tasks
Stickied, someone needs to do this work, I can't do it all, well, I can, but you'll need some patience. Until this thread is unstickied, hw designs will be risky and/or compromised by hacks and limitations.

What is SM? :-)

Not sure I have a lot to add to the electronics end of things. Hmmmm, with all your worrying about banging the ignition hard enough I'm temted to tell you to charge a big cap up and gate it. :-P

Edit: DOH! It was on the AL (Acronym List).

Updated!

Basically just need the always on stuff nailed and XGATE fully and properly integrated!

That latter task is a BIG one and MUST wait until we have full tunability. No point having a 1000hp engine in a mini with 155/80R13 tyres.

So there is still good testing to be done re always on, but mostly the hardware is now waiting for the software again.

Pretty happy with the testing that's been done up until now. Great work from Andy and Dan on this! You've both been really awesome! :-)

Hardware is only completely good when the signals to and from are also spot on. You sir deserve a pat on the back for all of your hard work! I think I speak for most when I say Thankyou Fred for all your hard work and dedication :-)
