I have ordered some components and yes I will be testing this and if all is good it will be implemented in RavAGE. :-)

What about a HCPL-2630 with its dual channel goodness? (for the final design) 1.63usd from your favourite supplier.

Now that IC me likey! $3.70 AUD from my supplier though. But worth the extra coin for the "dual channel goodness"

I shall purchase this too and investigate.
