Designer Task Assignment List [badly out of date]

Post by Fred »

Hi,

There isn't a lot going on with hardware yet, as hardware will spring to life once the code is proven to be useful. Until then not a whole lot needs doing. However...

This post is to let you know who is working on what, and what is not being worked on.

To avoid wasted and duplicated effort it would be best if you pm me the details of what you want to do, and the time frame of when you want to do it (roughly) so that I can publicise it here. There is no harm in more than one person working on the same aspect(s) of the schematic or board designs.

KiCAD is the preferred platform for design as it is open source and it enables everyone to get their hands dirty etc. Other platforms are also OK, but it should be noted that the freeware version of eagle can not be used to create designs for commercial production. We ideally want our designs to be eligible for that, hence a full license or KiCAD is better.

Assigned :
  • Adapt board footprint in KiCAD (Mostly complete) : Karri
  • Adapt to MegaSquirt main board adapter card : Karri
  • Power supply circuit (Early draft done) : Fred
  • Overall circuit and physical architecture (Late conceptualisation) : Fred (and others)
Not assigned :
  • Creation of KiCAD schematic libraries for:
    • First order filters
    • ADC input protection
    • Digital IO input protection
    • Digital IO output buffers/current limiting/flyback protection
    • Injector output blocks
    • Ignition output blocks
    • General high current output blocks (PWM, relays, etc)
    • etc.
Before embarking on doing this yourself, have a search around to see what is available in the public domain. Make sure it is free of copyrights etc as we will need to apply the TAPR OHL to it.

Thank you very much Karri for your contributions so far!!
