I do not want to be rude but....do you know the MC34152 features a undervoltage lockout at 5.8V?
No, not rude at all. Glad to hear someone else is looking at this also.
I overlooked this, as I just assumed it had the same supply voltage as the TC4427A. I have confirmed that the minimum supply voltage is 6.5V as per the datasheet.

The ON site doesn't seem to list the MC34152 as an active part number (only the MC33152 and NCV33152). Also, the MC34152 is only rated 0 - 70C.
Thanks,

Huff,
I don't have time to comment RE: active/non-active part, but you are correct, the MC34152 is only 0 - 70C, the MC33152 is -40 -85C and the MC33152V is -40 - 125C.
Driving 1 or 2 channels makes no difference: expected.
Using less than 50 ohm on the TC4427 is no go: expected. (1.3V @ 10ohm explains my speaker quietness LOL)
Using less than 50 ohm on the MC33152 works: unexpected.
Performance doesn't degrade appreciably at 15V compared to 12V: expected.
Current delivered at 5V is, best case, far from good enough for a BJT ignitor and only suitable for logic inputs: expected, known for 2 years+, hence this thread.
From that I'd say that 150 ohm might be the best choice if using the TC4427 part, as 200 may be a little weak and 100 may be a bit too high in dissipation.
Dan, how were they heat wise? I imagine cold to luke warm except for TC4427 @ 10 ohm.

Fred.
Yeah thats pretty much correct. I didnt notice any difference to ambient until i went less than 47R. Agreed RE 150R resistor valu suggestion. Even 100R would be fine though.
100 means we need a bigger resistor than we can stomach. 200 means our drive will be borderline. 150 is a nice compromise once you include the internal RDS on of the driver.
Are there any suitable, cost effective, 5V capable alternatives around? TC4427 is certainly a solid choice, though. I say we roll with it for this generation.
