As of tonight the HOTEL is running pretty mint. Lots more to do, but close enough to say:

New firmware features coming soon! :-)

viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1086&p=38349#p38349

Tooning laptop is in better shape, too. And work for WOF has begun.

Not only new features but also... work on the mighty red truck! :-D

Fred.

Update for the last month:

  • Lots and lots of work on the hotel... And it's nearly ready to get legal again!
  • A number of new firmware branches created and worked on.
  • A bunch of old ones archived and moved out of sight and out of mind.
  • A few old issues hopefully fixed. Testing very very soon for those.
  • A few new issues found and hopefully fixed. Ditto.
  • A few new features published. Working well whether they got noticed or not.
  • A prototype app rolled out as a proof of concept ready to be used as a demo base for something really big.
  • Some updates to the suite of ultimate apps that I'm now enjoying.
  • FIFTY 0.7-alpha Jaguar boards ordered among other hardware developments.

Ie lots going on, even if no posts have shown up here.

Fred.

Quick update for the subscribers! First ever FreeEMS podcast: Hotel EFI Installation Special: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2474 (and more, in future)

Still more work going on on the hotel! Legal any day now, I promise! :-)

Car is now legal and MUCH nicer to drive with fancy new/second hand tyres. House-hold chores are running low.... This means new firmware dev and various mechanical improvments to the hotel and work on reviving the mighty red truck and infamous engine #2 :-) Order of additions is difficult to say. Basically whatever makes sense from a dependency point of view, really. And whatever I and others desperately need for their running or about-to-run cars.

Nearly two months without a firmware update! Been super busy dealing with all sorts of things. However yesterday I spent basically all day working on some firmware related stuff that others had promised to do, but never actually did. I'm going to keep pushing hard on that front until I have something that I'm happy with and that works for all users and then permanently roll it out. This will be an enabler for a number of other patches that I want to push out and can't currently push out due to the lack of work in this area. Broken promises and dishonest unreliable people make me mad, and more importantly let all of you down. Not to worry, Fred to the rescue as per usual.

Last week was insane, super busy, still a bit tired, actually, but some progress IS going to happen this week. I have a MIG gas bottle waiting for me to pay and pick up. I have a head gasket for the #2 reddest truck ordered and ready to pickup, as well. That means progress getting the ute back up and running. And this being a normal week, I should get some dev and/or R&D done, too. Finally, for those who haven't seen the latest addition to the fleet, check out the vehicles section, VERY cool. :-)

So today I received my new not-new laptop! For the last few months I've had no time to myself except weekends, and those have mostly been spent skiing. This weekend is the last weekend that the ski field is open, and we probably won't go anyway. That frees up the weekends, mostly. Except for car work, that is. However I still won't have any day to day time for a little longer. On the brighter side, I hope to move house before the end of November, and when I do, I'll be back in action like normal, again. In the meantime, lots of work is being done on the truck and Suzuki where I have an hour or two and can achieve something to completion.

So then, the plan for this weekend is to install Debian on the new machine and get it setup for dev. This should mean that I can achieve a bit in the morning and evening, as the machine is pretty portable. I've been without a usable laptop for some time with the eee broken, the macbook air overheating and slow, and the free one too heavy to take with me and with too short of a battery life. This will be a real pleasure! :-)

More updates soon!

Fred.

Excuse the delay, but I'm making this post from a fresh install of testing > sid that I did this morning while in bed. IE, new dev machine is setup enough to browse from. I still need to get a working set of tools going for it, however I'm now in a position to put time into that setup while on the bus and/or train. Hooray. I already like this machine a fair bit more than the macbook air. Smaller and lighter and faster and cooler (literally) and higher res screen and double the RAM and more. Hackers, watch out, the pro dev is back in town. Time to bring the code base(s) up to the standard that they ought to be.

So, it's been a while since I posted here...

Moving house has been an ongoing process with lots of things to buy and even more to do. In fact, even today I've loaded up the volvo full of gear to bring home.

I do however have a little bit of news to share! As of Wednesday night, I have DSL again; the first time since Spain, having been on 3G for the last year and a half.

What does this mean? More video uploads, more use of my dev box, more general progress. In fact, I already did some firmware commits, and experimental loader commits over breakfast this week past.

Quite a few surprises in store. Lots of code waiting to be rolled out. Some long overdue roll outs just around the corner. Etc etc etc.

Stay tuned! More news as it comes to hand.

Fred.

Last night I spent updating my main dev box and trying to get eclipse to fire up. No such luck. Got the box updated and happy, though. So tonight, after getting a WOF for my Lantis, I downloaded brand new eclipse for both my dev box, and this new laptop, and got the firmware loaded into it on this laptop. Looks nice! :-) Looking forward to doing some serious hacking once again. Might even make some rank amateurs cry by outshining them ten to one. We'll see. Progress coming soon :-)
