That's something to be discussed in a hardware thread really. This thread is specifically for working out the variable ranges and calculations between to obtain a workable error free and accurate math and input engine for the system. In the ECU's eyes it will just read 24.5 (with those settings and components) and behave accordingly.
EGO-- why go down to zero and up so high
It is just a convenient place to provide good accuracy and fine grain changes. It also allows for the theoretical and practical limits of Lamda values.

Best to keep non mathematics related discussions in another thread perhaps?
