I have a soldering iron too, and a new flat with a decent sized desk, and I assembled one of these today. I need to buy some more wire and connect it to the FreeEMS CPU in various ways and run the sensor through a candle to get a varied reading over ADC, then I can begin I2C dev for it. This is a lower priority than some of the other work, but should be fun, so I'll squeeze it in in the evenings while sipping wine :-)
I'm planning to fit a tail pipe sampling tube and run the cable in through the boot/hatch and steal power from the ciggy socket to run it and a FreeEMS board too. Then I can go for a drive and do a datalog of it under various driving conditions such as cold start, idle, full throttle, trailing throttle, etc. This is all on a diesel, so it'll be interesting for me. It's a computer controlled diesel too, with traction control and what feels like drive by wire (fuck i hate that...). Maybe I can tap into the crank / cam / temperature sensors too and get a decent picture for how it behaves. But, first things first, verify that this thing works properly and get some readings from a real car with it.

Another cold day today, unable to focus on code, so built a second one which, for the time being, I'll use only on the bench. The first one is close to ready for a ride in a car. If it's cold tomorrow I'll finish the FredStim off first then go back to bed for coding in bed for the rest of the day :-/ Gotta get some work done on the firmware again soon, so this will have to wait a bit.

I've got a gazillion miles on them and they're great. The floating point bit is a little annoying, but manageable.

Is it DI? If so, it's not overly relevant. In any case, if things change, so can scalings/limits, it's not like a diamond ;-)

That's only possible with DI.
