walinsky's jaguar 0.7 #28

Andy's GM DIS centric hardware design! Also works as a fuel controller for EDIS and distributor applications.

walinsky's jaguar 0.7 #28

Post by walinsky »

Found something in a moving box. Has been sitting there for err, well, since we moved to our new house.

Andy has done a brilliant job on the smd soldering. I just need to finish soldering a handful of components.
I'm planning on using the original loom; so I'll want to wire to the Motronic 55 pin connector.

Really want to try starting things now. Lots of things to do; and no clue where to start.

I did get MegaTunix compiled on a recent Ubuntu version (22.04.1 LTS); having software to talk to the board is the least bit I need.

Input sensors:

BRV: should be ok-ish from the start using Jaguar
IAT: replacing the AFM barn door with a straight pipe with Bosch IAT sensor (0 280 130 060)
CHT: standard bosch sensor
MAP: connect to available (now plugged) vacuum tube
RPM: 60-2 trigger wheel

TPS: currently switches for idle/else/wot. will replace this with a variable TPS
AAP: should be ok using Jaguar
EGO: currently standard bosch sensor (note to self: find out if I can use standard pinout when using 14point7 Spartan 2)
Cyl 1 pulse. (http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E34-S ... sparkplug/) question: can/do we use this with the 60-2 pattern?

Outputs:

Ignition: 1x using distributor
RPM: cluster
Fuel pump
Injectors: 2x (banked injection 1-3-5 and 2-4-6)

Megatunix support has fallen behind years ago when the dev jumped ship. You'll want to talk with Fred about his Ultimate Tools.

Thanks for chiming in, ToxicGumbo!

Ubuntu 22 is too much of a hassle. I went back to 17; which works like a charm.
Emstudio compiled straight away.

Almost about to firing up the soldering station.
Voltage regulators and 12V/GND first; so I can at least set up comms with the Jaguar.

Still trying to figure out which resistors to use on the voltage divider for RPM input.
Mostly documenting this for myself...

I have the lovely 60-2 trigger wheel. AFAIK there's no support for a 2nd rpm input; so I'll just equip the RPM0 input.

FWIW I think this is a VR input; so I'll leave R22 empty.

From the components that Andy kindly provided, I will be using the 10k resistors on R18 and R19. 5.1K for R23.

(omg. these labels clearly state 2014, don't they ...)
R83 is a 1K resistor:

Andy wrote 'For hall/digital rpm inputs' on the bag; but I still need this R83 1K resistor, don't I ?

All Bosch sensors; so thermistor bias resistors R25 and R31 are 2.43k metal film resistors.
Do I use R24?

R24 is only populated if you are using a thermistor on the Spare ADC input, otherwise you can leave it empty.

I have 2 injector banks; so I'll be using INJ1 and INJ2 for these. Do I jumper the PORTS T like this?
