Didn't mean you, Mike! You're in the back of my mind, but I have faith. I meant one specific person. Will flick you an email explaining why.

Guilt is a fine thing, but the ones that should possess it rarely do! ;-)

Erroneous noise; Where's the love? . .." Any 0-5V logic input protected (or even unprotected) DPAK FET with the same pin out and sufficiently low RDS-ON is fine...(Fred) " I don't even know what RDS-ON means, just my knowledge of component interchange is pretty limited, especially with the .1% tolerances called out on some resistors and wanted to get it straight. No worries, soldiering on....next phase is mounting inside enclosure and wiring to big ass socket.

Then you likely should have asked, or self-educated by reading data sheets for known good parts and finding similar parts and checking those parameters. Agreed though, keep calm and FreeEMS on.

Been there... done that: lots close, " no comparable substitute" per component interchange application... But we are past that now, FreeEMSing on....

Ahh, so your mistake as believing an automated system that doesn't know the application versus looking at the specs of similar devices and seeing if they'd be OK.

I've lost my way a bit. Spent hours screwing around with git and various linux versions hoping some combination would work. I tried getting megatunix and Freeems-loader to load the benchtest file, the mtxloader on linux says that it's writing everything ok. Then megatunix says there's no firmware. EMStudio on windows worked before I tried flashing the file, and still works. Do the boards supplied with the SMD components just have the serial monitor programme loaded or do they have the bench test firmware loaded? I don't know if the loader incorrectly confirms that it added the firmware or whether megatunix just can't read it. I definitely had some dependency issues a couple of times so I don't know what to trust.
