What circuits should each power supply be used for?

Andy's GM DIS centric hardware design! Also works as a fuel controller for EDIS and distributor applications.

What circuits should each power supply be used for?

Post by DeuceEFI »

Currently the Jaguar 0.4-alpha power supplies are used as follows:
  • CPU-5v supply is used to supply power to:
  • MC9S12XDP512 microcontroller
  • BDM connector
  • Check Engine LED (CEL) circuit
  • ADUMx201 digital isolator
  • Analog-5v supply is used to supply power to:
  • MAX9926
  • AAP sensor
  • MAP sensor
  • Spare ADC input
  • IAT input
  • CHT input
  • TPS 5v out
  • MAF input
  • Wideband O2 input
  • BRV input
  • TC442xA ignitor driver supply
I have received some feedback from a few people that some of the circuits that are currently supplied by the Analog-5v power supply should actually be supplied by the CPU-5v power supply.

Here is the proper place to discuss what should be powered by each supply and PLEASE supply supporting information for why your change is valid. This will allow us to discuss the changes as a group before I make changes to the Jaguar schematic or the PCB design.

Thanks!

Andy.

Just move TC442X and MAX992X supplies from analogue to CPU, both are noisy, and it won't hurt the CPU, but it could screw up the ADC readings by polluting the reference.

Dan, how is ravage setup in this respect, please add a matching list-pair :-)

I have made the power supply changes to the MAX9926 and the TC442xA ICs that Fred mentioned and committed them as of git: 978b6c31587cc7bd4109bc433115a0d65cc5614f

RavAGE Power Supply Configuration

CPU-5v supply is used to supply power to:
  • MC9S12XDP512 microcontroller
    BDM connector
    Check Engine LED (CEL) circuit
    RTC
    3v3 Regulator for SD Card
    ADUMx201 digital isolator
    Logic Gate for Wake-up circuit
Analog-5v supply is used to supply power to:
  • Everything else!
Sorry it took me a while to respond, been busy with my RB25DET ECU stuff :-)

Can you please list "everything else" but group say thermistor inputs as one item.
