Last little addition to this: I was soldering my first ATmega328p TQFP package to my board with a bulky chisel tipped soldering iron yesterday.
I would say the following about soldering these kinds of packages:
-For one-pin-at-a-time soldering, a finer (say 1,5-2mm wide) tip is better, but especially a thinner soldering wire would make it easier not to make mistakes.
-Drag soldering is probably best, but takes a bit of practice.
-When you mess up (not if...): if you cant wick solder bridges off, add MORE solder and try again. I had a nasty little bridge behind two pins (+5v & Gnd) that
just wouldnt give in untill I bathed the pins in fresh solder and gave the wick another go.

FWIW: I use an ERSA 80W soldering station. It is a quite nice one, but I still consider it a budget station (payed 120 euro's for it). I usually set the iron to 350 deg C. and keep
contact time with the pins&pads down to a minimum.

+1 except my idea of fine tip for pin-by-pin is 0.8mm with 1.6mm being "medium" for normal TH stuff. More solder to flow out a bridge is fine advice :-)

Hi I just thought i'd register my interest in a Jag board version 0.4 when they arrive. I have a part finished haynes roadster with a ZX9r engine in it. I was considering building my own board but as the Jaguar has undergone some testing and is on revison 0.4 it seemed silly to start from scratch.
I want to convert the zx9r engine to EFI as i need it to pass emmisions testing come the IVA test and I was also thinking of lightly turbo charging it at some point to get a bit more torque out of it.
Can the FreeEMS handle over 11000rpm? while running ignition as well?
I also have a cam angle as well as a crank sensor as I beileve Kawasaki were thinking of EFi on the 9 but the zx10r came along instead.
I it likely the crank and cam triggers will be compatible?

Depends on your cam/crank patterns. Some decoders work to 32767.5 RPM, others fail by 3k :-)
