still got no time to debug it. :-(
All in 1 row, things happen at the same time.
My debian squeeze cannot run in Gnome after remove upower.
VW Ghia Air-cond broken
I got a flu and slept for a few days.

Yeah, it turns out that there is a better choice, which is to remove the rule:
"I just commented out the rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-upower-wup.rules"

Because removing upower breaks ucuntu, this approach is superior. Either that or switch to a non-gnome window manager and take control of your computer back into your own hands.
So, put upower back in, then verify that gnome works, then remove the rule from that file.
