So, put upower back in, then verify that gnome works, then remove the rule from that file."I just commented out the rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-upower-wup.rules"
Because removing upower breaks ucuntu, this approach is superior. Either that or switch to a non-gnome window manager and take control of your computer back into your own hands.
