The little chip that I'm trying to evaluate. It's 3mm sq QFN16 and, as you can see, fits on just four FTDI pads. Note the size of the standard 1/4w resistor next to it. Unfortunately, it's not working well for me at all. Running it through a hub ruins it. Running it with my logic analyser ruins it. Not happy. They said they might post me a legit board to retry. I said I'd test if they did. Will likely rip this off and do something else instead. Can test the SM dev on the Puma or TA instead. Shit happens. Enjoy the ultra micro tiny soldering :-)

LOL :D
Even it is not working. The micro soldering is just a nice piece of art!

Thank you! :-) I don't think the soldering is at fault, though. I think buffer size in the IC could be, or power supply sensitivity, maybe.

I just tore the wires off of the IC and the IC off of the board. I have an FT232RL to go on there, and will be soldering it on and putting the Jag to good use one way or another or both soon.

Put the FT232RL on the board, no go. I hope I didn't cook it or something. Will investigate more tomorrow until I find the solution.

Pretty sure I fried it. I put another on after sorting out all of the details that I could and it's humming away nicely now. SUCCESS! :-)

Now I can finally do some SM dev and use it for a few other things too! Hooray.

It also looks like it'll be getting fitted with a 250kPa MAP sensor and some FETs... ;-)

With the worst possible timing, I'll be offline for a day or two, maybe. Dying and then dead body hanging from an RSJ outside the window this morning, wife saw/watched/heard it, so she's a bit upset... going with her somewhere...

Hmm, looks like even I was distracted, that post was supposed to be in a different thread. She's a bit better, yes. I cleaned the blood off of the RSJ earlier today so that it didn't remind her of it.

My jaguar now has one ultra beefy VR input! Dual 1/4 4k7 on each pole of the input, and a big fat 2w 1k across the input :-) Related to project secret, perhaps, generally useful, for sure.
