How to Obtain a Jaguar Board for FreeEMS

Andy's GM DIS centric hardware design! Also works as a fuel controller for EDIS and distributor applications.

How to Obtain a Jaguar Board for FreeEMS

Post by DeuceEFI »

Right now until all the documentation is complete and I have had a chance to etch a prototype board, assemble it and work out the bugs, there is no Jaguar Board to buy.

However you are free to etch your own if you are so inclined to help with working out the bugs. I have included all of the files necessary in my github repository, so if you install KiCAD you can print out the front and back of the board and photo etch one for yourself. Be WARNED however this design is highly fluid at this point and could change at anytime, so proceed with CAUTION.

This project aims to have all documentation in place (much like Fred's concept with Cheetah) before considering having professional PCB's made.

Keep watching the Jaguar forums for more information.

I will update this thread when we get all the preliminary work DONE. 8-)

Proof that you can create your own PCB at home... :-)

Cool! :-)

One thing, you should probably redo your under-CPU footprint as it doesn't match the processor recommendations. You might be able to fix this one with a sharp knife and some strategic cuts.

You are moving fast my friend
Hope the board does what you want it to do
This looks like a board i could build one day
Keep up the good work and please share many pictures of your build

I saw that but kept forgetting to go back and fix it, so now I have fixed the under-CPU footprint to resemble Freescale's recommended design for the board going forward and will take a dremel to the PCB in the pics to make it match... :-)

Thanks, I tried to keep the design simple but with enough extra I/O pins to play with as additional code is written to take advantage of those pins.

There will be a build thread with pics as I go about building and testing the boards, both the prototype I am etching myself and the professionally manufactured pilot PCB when it arrives :-)

Here is prototype #2, I'm going to drill it out later today and install the SMD components to verify the USB comms before I place a PCB order.
