And what it does for us is program blank chips. If you buy a built FreeEMS CPU solution you don't need to know about this at all. If you're building your own hardware from scratch, you do.
I built it to program the MCUs on my Jaguar PCBs. I originally built a TBDML to reprogram the Serial Monitor on the TA board, but I don't recommend that BDM module as it is very expensive to build and the USBDM only costs about $14 USD for the parts.
