Flashing light = CEL (Check Engine Light). What it's trying to say is "go outside and check your engine, someone has modified it in a terrible way.".
More seriously, though, connect with some serial terminal application: The flashing proves that the firmware is dumping out massive amounts of data constantly, so you'll see that if you connect with a serial terminal app.

BUT, if it's streaming data at you, then the ECU is healthy and your issue is with EMStudio, or your usage.
Log needs to be a binary file. If you can save it as a binary file with the correct settings and .bin extension, try opening in OLV.
