github is just a website with a nice UI to git :-) git is a GREAT tool, though. Bash is what you're mostly using in that window, not git, unless you type git as the first thing, then it's bash running git for you. I've fixed the error Peter had, so hopefully his builds OK now, with possibly one personalisation that I'm not ready to go mainstream with yet, but can advise about.

Peter, I just realised that something you said earlier is likely relevant. When you installed some of that list of tools, did it include make? If so, the issue could be with the gnuwin32 tools. Likely the one you downloaded is updated to work with win 7 and the one bundled in our installer is not.

Harry, can you grab make from gnuwin32 and install that please? If something else dies similarly, then install that from the same place too, here's the link:

http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages.html

I will get Dave to grab updated gnuwin32 tools for bundling in future if this works. I just checked and make is still 3.81 but that doesn't mean they weren't dirty and built it with the same version to fix an incompatibility, so try it anyway.

The things you might want to install are listed here:

I honestly don't remember. It's unlikely since it wasn't in your list, but I might have since it's in the list that's under the toolchain link.

I guess my advise now is to try and get it working in a 32bit version of ubuntu. I find ubuntu a little more tricky to use, but I have way less problems using it for this project.

<@dandruczyk_home> FreeAir: I'm working on a POSSIBLE win64 of mtx, and maybe the toolchain

It looks like Peter was on the money. 64 bit Linux shouldn't be an issue, at some point, however tools and mtx for Win 64 are looking to be impossible to produce right now. Be patient, we're working on it! :-)

Harry, I'm working on this idea as inspired by Preston setting up a machine last night:

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1610

Basically setting up a box for FreeEMS is easy but has a lot of steps and when done manually takes a bit of time. So automating it for noobs with virgin deb/ubuntu boxes will smooth things up a LOT :-)

It's not ready yet, and you're familiar with the process by now anyway, but I thought I'd link it here for you.

Congratulations on the job! :-) It's certainly not a priority, making the software work on all necessary platforms is the first step! :-)

Harry, there has been some significant work on 64 bit stuff recently! :-) Try the latest installers from here for windows:

http://preludelinux.hopto.org/Output/windows/?C=M;O=D

There were some issues with 64 bit MTX that have been resolved. Hopefully it's fairly stable. I was using d54813543dfefd163449d8a5ee9a2f88b90c7adb earlier today on 32 bit linux and it seemed fine.

Did your BDM arrive? Did you try to put the proper SM on your card? Maybe we can make better progress now :-)

Harry, just saw you online and thought I'd update this again:

There is a new tuning app that you can load up and try:

http://mikesshop.net/EMStudio/

Don't worry about the 32 bitness of them, they will work anyway on windows.

Likewise the loader is here:

viewtopic.php?p=28792#p28792

I can't promise these will work, but that's part of being a tester :-) Report problems and we'll see what we can do to solve them.

If someone closer to you can't help you load a new SM to your card, I can do it here if you'll cover postage. Just let me know.

Fred.
