OK, that's good news for my ute, which has a similar setup with an
18"x4" "coby" at the front, and a similar oval straight through another
meter further on. I plan to loop it back and through another larger
muffler, which would make my ute setup be similar to yours, but
shorter. Currently without the third muffler it's mild, but a bit too
noisy for my liking in quiet suburbia. Ute:
I guess what I can take from this is that 2.5" with three mufflers
should be adequately quiet and still meet my power needs. I'll do
something similar to yours/the ute on the 740 with 3" for the larger
power goals there.
As an aside, I have been applying verniers to various exhausts in
order to evaluate what I should run on the blacktop 4age in the
Starlet, and one exhaust I have here is a Millenia 200ps 2.5l V6
exhaust at 53.84mm OD. Could that V6 put out a bit more with a
more free flowing setup? sure, but a fraction over 2" supports
200hp just fine without any boost assistance :-) B234F is 2", as
is stock blacktop exhaust @ 165ps.
Enough spam! Thanks for the detailed response :-)
EDIT: Wrapped text out of respect, cheers!
