Desde hace barios años que sigo este proyecto
y por fin me decidi y compre los componentes para la jaguar
ya esta ensamblada y compre el programador de cool efi
mi problema es el siguiente, al intentar programar el firmware me arroja un mensaje de error , no identifica que chip tiene conectado y tampoco lo puede borrar
ya revise los voltajes y en las patitas del cristal esta presente la señal del oscilador
estara dañado el chip,? es el programador? alguna sugerencia
a ver que tal esta tu español Fred

Las nueva palabras para mi:

barios = a few

arroja = it gives

Todo de los restos, no fue una problema para mi!

To confirm, you bought a blank board, components, and assembled it yourself. Then you got a USBDM from Andy, and now you're trying to program it. In my experience there are two possibilities:

1) You're having issues with the USBDM software, are you running as root? Which version are you using? etc.
2) You've screwed something up, PSU, crystal, decouple caps, overheated something, bridged joints, etc.

The CPU is pretty tough, but the circuits around it need to be 100% right before you can program the thing.

Another possibility is that you are powering it from USB only, and your USB 5V is 4V or noisy or both etc.

Tambien, usando el correcto archivo? Adjunto a esto post. Importante no usar S19 normal de FreeEMS. La primera debera esto que adjunto.

Anyone else reading this, feel free to chip in with your USBDM experiences, don't be put off by the language :-D Didn't stop me... :-)

Another thing that has been done before on this site is to install the CPU rotated 90 or 180 degrees. This is not a good idea for obvious reasons, but easy to check. If you post a couple of high resolution photos (front and back) then maybe we can spot something wrong? Bien suerte!

Fred i bought the bare pcb and the programmer from Andy, and obviously i solder the thing,
power up from bench power supply , not from usb
i use the usbdm program from Andys site
me preocupa tener dañado el mc9s12

the usbdm is version 4.9.5b windows
when i hit the detect chip button
no matching device

when i try to program
the error message is
selected target device not agree with detected device
(unable to read / comfirm chip_id)

Might need to hack the usbdm data definitions. Let me find the thread on it.

Read that (second page, as linked) and adapt to Windows. If it's useful, post your windows details to that thread :-)

If when you get in there you find all of the files have the c412 line in them, then that wasn't the issue, and we'll have to try again, but this is a good start.

Looks like you did a nice job assembling it. The only thing I see wrong at a glance is LEDs on the other side, but if you're not planning to use the official case, then that's probably a non-issue anyway. I'll spend a bit more time studying those pics later.

You have a few TH joints that have not flowed properly. I'll try to list what I can, but have a look over it yourself and ensure there aren't more that I can't see in the photo:

• R78
• The resistor right next to C49 (near AAP)
• The two diodes between there and C44
• Diode near LSD4 output terminal
• Diode on injector 1
• Diode on injector 4

I checked your clamp circuit, it looks correct.

Do you have current measurement on your bench supply? How much was it drawing, if so? How much voltage were you feeding it? I'd recommend 7V for bench testing to keep the heat in the regs low if not heatsinked. 7V should be safely clear of the LDO threshold (around 6V).

Board looks very clean (noticed looking at my flux soaked board, lol) but could you have missed some around/near some of the clock traces?

Correct rotation of BDM plug? One way to ensure it's correct is to not power it up with the bench, but power it through the BDM port. Then connect the bench supply to the 12V input once you can see it's right.

Hopefully it was just those definitions being wrong, though.
