It's behaviour exactly like this that you can thank for the existence of DIYEFI.org and the FreeEMS project!
DIYEFI.org - where Open Source means Open Source, and Free means Freedom
FreeEMS.org - the open source engine management system
FreeEMS dev diary and its comments thread and my turbo truck!
n00bs, do NOT PM or email tech questions! Use the forum!

I think it's even sillier than that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the OP in the thread is wanting to use the knock module on another project or system not bring something to the MS3
so there would be no dilution to the MS3 environment, just at least one extra sale of the JSM module

Ha! You're right! Shows you how far they'll go to protect their core business! :-) One sale doesn't matter, provided that we can stop the pirates! :-D

I know this board - it's available at https://svn.code.sf.net/p/rusefi/code/t ... e/hip9011/ :)

Forgive my ignorance - is the HIP9011 circuit shown above useable without the SO/SI pins? Can they be eliminated from the circuit? The datasheet says they have internal pull-ups, but I just had a graphic demonstration on a prototype of my own on why you can't always trust such beasts.

Is the HIP9011 / TPIC8101 etc useable 'out of the box', or does it require some programming via the SO/SI pins, or other means?
