MicroTech
VEMS (& derivs)
BigStuff3
MS1
MS2
ECOTRONS
Accel gen3
SDSEFI
Wolf EMS
Tec3

MAP-ECU is a piggy back system why would it be here....

These are the ecu's i would never consider for my car, i think i would put on webbers and re do the advance curve in a dissy before i use them.

If i client came to me i would not even tune these, i turn them back regularly or change them.

Good spotting, MAP-ECU removed!

Votes updated with your first list.

One question, if you'd use MS3, why would you not use MS2? On a 4 cylinder it's not toooooo bad.

Any other comments about why you dislike the above stuff would be cool to have on the record too :-)

i have had way to much drama with the 2, i can get good power but need every output it has to do it and just had to hack the hardware to much. i used to do this to make money. As of yesterday i am only doing it for select few. Where MS3 actually has the ouputs and software needed to do a good job.

Hydra Nemesis added, I forgot about that.

(02:32:17) TekniQue: I have a new least favorite aftermarket EMS
(02:32:23) TekniQue: it's called Hydra
(02:33:07) TekniQue: software is hideous
(02:58:26) MerpCore_: <TekniQue> it's called Hydra
(02:58:28) MerpCore_: +1

Added my vote to those two guys, puts it in the top listing, but we can't let it beat microleb, that just wouldn't be right.

Chatter about Hydra:

(17:27:49) TekniQue: you should download the hydra software
(17:27:51) TekniQue: and try it out
(17:27:57) TekniQue: it's really horrible
(17:45:20) TekniQue: for one, the tables are hardcoded at huge dimensions, 32x32 or some shit
(17:45:54) TekniQue: you configure the axes by entering incremental numbers for their spacing
(17:45:59) TekniQue: numbers that are scaled btw
(17:46:11) TekniQue: and come in the range from 0-255
(17:46:20) TekniQue: enter 100 for a 500RPM spacing
(17:46:37) Fred: lol
(17:46:40) TekniQue: then, there don't appear to be any tools to scale the table
(17:46:50) Fred: nor does emstudio... tsk tsk
(17:47:01) TekniQue: so if you select a row, there's no option to multiply by a float or anything
(17:47:20) TekniQue: you can only increment or decrement
(17:47:34) TekniQue: in steps of either 0.05ms or 0.005ms
(17:48:04) TekniQue: it does have the option of interpolating rows but that doesn't produce the expected results
(17:48:18) Fred: LOL, what?
(17:48:30) TekniQue: it also has the option to copy numbers across cells but that doesn't produce the expected results either, and is not undoable
(17:49:26) TekniQue: you can use the keyboard and directly enter a number into a cell
(17:49:31) TekniQue: but only in off-line mode!
(17:49:55) TekniQue: if you do off-line changes, you need to restart the tuning app after you sync them to the ECU
(17:52:13) TekniQue: data logging goes at 13Hz and it logs vacuum and boost in two different columns!
(17:52:25) TekniQue: hard coded to have vacuum in mmhg and boost in psi
(17:52:48) TekniQue: so when MAP crosses 100kpa, vacuum goes to 0 and boost starts going up
(17:53:38) TekniQue: tuning software lets you display the table axis in metric units but the datalogs are hard coded to 'merican
(17:56:08) TekniQue: and as with AEM, it has drive by wire but no options to configure it
(17:56:09) Fred: lol
(17:59:36) TekniQue: when I tried to copy the ignition numbers from the bottom rpm row across for the entire load range, to set sane numbers to start with at boost, it didn't just copy the one row, it copied every row
(18:00:02) TekniQue: so my entire spark table had the same number from 0rpm to 16k rpm
(18:05:39) Fred: :-/

<snip of unrelated conversation>

(19:09:49) MerpCore_: no problem fredcooke, not only is the software junk, but the original hardware was junk that they refused to upgrade despite random WOT behavior. Distributor in the US (element tuning) is also a chode.
(19:10:31) TekniQue: MerpCore_: what hardware?
(19:10:37) MerpCore_: hydra
(19:10:42) TekniQue: figures
(19:10:49) MerpCore_: specifically, iirc the v2.5 for subaru
(19:11:00) TekniQue: I was tuning a v2.5 for subaru last night
(19:11:06) TekniQue: it ended up running okay
(19:11:18) MerpCore_: maybe it was 2.4, one of the very first versions they released
(19:11:27) TekniQue: but it took double the time I would have done a decent ECU in
(19:12:05) MerpCore_: did it require a second harness for launch control?
(19:30:50) Fred: MerpCore_ and TekniQue, it is my opinion that the above hydra discussions should be preserved for all and sundry to enjoy/learn from, in that thread. Objections? :-)
(19:31:40) TekniQue: no objections
(19:32:06) TekniQue: MerpCore_: I don't know, I never saw the ECU
(19:32:21) TekniQue: but it requires some switch input for launch control
(19:34:06) MerpCore_: ya, the car had one in the pedals and available on the main harness, but for some reason still required an extra harness

Holley EFI

Customer came in with this system on a v8. The V8 idled at 70KPA, unfourntaly the software gave no TPS\SD blend like I am used to with Electromotive so idle was harder to stablize. Many other things I wasn't thrilled with.

TPSretard you don't care for electromotive or is it just the tec3 or software you don't like?

Only thing about electromotive is I find it long in the tooth, Their engine control is good but they are starting to lack features that cheaper and more common units have.

ms1, major hate
ms2, dislike due to terrible results from the community when trying to help them, while the product may potential if the support isn't there, well its not as good as it could be.

Fred Tec3 is an electromotive product and is older one.

Hentai, i have been using Electromotive since their inception, i still have my first ignition box that has a set of to3 transistors on the outside.

To the newer ignition units and the full tec3. I ripped out a tec3 and replaced it with a ms3 and the car was transformed, we had the same peek power almost a few more hp, nothing to talk about. but the car was so much more drive able and we had all the racing features we wanted. I have found customer service lacks also.

The software, the software....not even starting on the software..

Hentai, updated with votes for ms1/ms2 and added Holley. Also changed Tec3 to Tec3&co
