No Version Of MegaSquirt Has Ever Been Open Source

I read this today:
"I've found an old version of Megasquirt but I do not like its one-file source code. The current version is not open-source."
So thought that I'd put up a thread making it quite clear that NO version of MegaSquirt has EVER been open source. All firmware versions are proprietary code. The code is readable, and changeable within personal use allowances and various restrictions on sharing and use. One restriction has always been "only on official hardware" which is what the FreeEMS project set out to solve, among other issues. Modern restrictions are much MUCH more zealous indeed.
The closest that they came was supplying PCB art for very early hardware, though by open hardware standards of today, that's not source either.
Open source is defined here: http://opensource.org/osd.html
Some related applications and tools were and even still are open source, however that doesn't make MegaSquirt itself open source.
Fred.
