It's weird that they put the VND5N07 on the MS3X when that part is obsolete. Still, they shouldn't be failing like this. I've had a similar part fail (PIP3104) both open and closed circuit with almost no use. The VNP20N07 parts that I've used have never let me down even when driving 4 injectors on just one. I generally consider it one of the few things that MS do right. The active clamp in them uses the FET itself to limit voltage, so even that's robust.
If they were Chinese copies that could explain it. Maybe that's how they got a supply with them being obsolete? Wild speculation, but possible. The clones look legit, but inside are not.
