Owner:Daniel
Make:Volvo
Model: 1995 960
Engine:B6244 6cyl "whiteblock"
Capacity:2473cc
Power Adders:N/A
Hardware:Homebake TA discombobulation
Description:Volvo land barge

After a small amount of buggering with the config and spending a few hours wiring my TA discombobulation
into a $500 car I bought to wreck I now have a running driving Volvo 960

It is in desperate need of a tune and correctly setting the timing offset so I can put a load on it without it detonating,
but it drives very nicely when you are gentle with it.

pic's and video's to come.

On behalf of the group and ourselves I hope we passed the audition.

thank you.

EDIT by admin on behalf of.

Awesome, I hope to have time to upload pics/vids today some time, probably tonight. But we'll see. :-D

This thing already runs better than any of mine ever have, remarkable stuff.

And with a clever tweak of the config, it's spinning over 7k on a 60-2 with just some minor fixes and the old crappy compiler setup. I'm not sure that I'd trust it, but... hey, it works! More on that, soon.

its the LM1815 circuit that I thought would cause the problem.

I'll get some muck to put in the radiator to try fix that leak.

I recently made a repair to the cracked plastic side tank
its not just a dribble as apposed to a gusher,

the igniter's I was using were a pair of hitachi dual channel module's being made to run two coils from one channel and were getting a bit hot so I ordered some ISL9V5036P3 IGBT's and attached them to a board I had made for a customer of mine.

the result is a logged 8100rpm loaded engine speed and I think i saw 8300rpm unloaded.

I have yet to properly set the timing as the offset was a guess and there are no marks on the engine for TDC other than the camshaft timing marks and they are not on TDC #1 so I'll have to spend I bit more time on that.

although the auto ECU is no longer getting load info from the OEM ECU, the car drive's very smooth.
so if you drive it at anything more than light loads it up-shifts to soon so it requires manual shifting if you want to beat it. so i think I'll just drive it like a nanna.
let say its in its retirement. it was after all destined for the scrap heap.

Some pics of the car on fb, sorry, no general upload of them yet: https://www.facebook.com/FreeEMS/posts/ ... 8263244022

And a video of it with the following caption: https://youtu.be/95UxTC22V9o

"FreeEMS vehicle number 37 being revved to over 7000 RPM on the factory 60-2 crank trigger setup. Tested to over 14000 RPM on the bench by this user, and 8300 RPM on this very engine :-o"

Good work on the ignition setup! Which part number are those devices? BoostedCabbage is in need of a similar setup as ignitors and junkyards are hard to come by where he is.

ISL9V5036P3 as per my last post.

they are an alternative to a bosch BIP373, but without the auto protection features that the BIP has.

they are rated to 46amps and 360 volts.

Disappointing, man. You claim 8100, but that's a spike. The real peak RPM is about 8012.5 :-p Tsk tsk. Only 2000 RPM over the factory redline. Ripped off.
