First things first, I don't care how crappy it is, it's the original, please share it with me, even if only me. The new vid will be new, not original, and no matter how clear, somehow not as good.

New post in a second.

HotCat wrote:the engine can not output enough power when the RPM is above 1600, the stock ECU ignore the 24x crank input but calculate the engine RPM by 3x output from ignition module. I think this is the performance bottle-neck. What's your opinion?
No, almost certainly not. The bottle neck will be one of these things:
  • too rich
  • too lean
  • too retarded
Out of date calculations can result in those things, but usually not. Once per engine firing event is optimal. FreeEMS currently does it much more, which is bad, not good. I'll fix it to do it that often and no more, eventually.

Also, it could just be "american engine" syndrome :-)

I would say it was the retarded timing, my GM 3.1L v6 needed more advance to be happy in the range HotCat is referring to. It might be running rich as well, but we would need to see what the wide band O2 sensor readings are during a "normal" and a "spirited" drive to see if that was the case. I will do more research once I'm back at home to find out more about his 3.0L engine.

I think the stock ECU deliberates retarted timing to improve the shift quality of Automatic Transaxle (4T65-E), did you use 4T65-E as your transaxle?

You should have made it more obvious! :-)

I've now shared it a bit more widely! ;-)

This is cool as hell. Is this the first diy hardware that could pass for a commercial product?

Edit: and your desk lamp is pretty cool too.

Yes, in fact this is my first experience designing PCB and work close to Fred to make sure it was compatible with FreeEMS

My Citroen ZX was hit by a newbie driving a Palio, the ground was very slip that day. I can't produce any video until I fix it up
