Fred's Wife's Secret Magical Mystery Machine (13th)

Post by Fred »

I'm going to let the viewers decide on this. EDIT: No, I'm not, see recent posts on this page! :-)

The vehicle remains a secret for a variety of reasons, however here is a nicely obscure video showing it clearly running strongly:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edENcjTUVOg

I've been working on this project since mid-July in secret. Still-secret build diary is here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1827

As you can see, on that evening/afternoon, I clearly had a running engine. You can even hear the turbo spinning down afterward. It ran again a few times after this video, the same day, too.

Caveats:

1) It would not idle
2) I had some throttle control issues

If item 1 is an issue, then multiple FreeEMS "first run" times/dates are wrong. Item 2 seems to me to be a side issue.

Other than that, it ran, on a Jaguar, which is visible in the video.

So, community, do I get 13th place? Or not. You decide.

Those who know the secret are forbidden from having an opinion on this. They're also forbidden from sharing the secret. Unless they want their account, and all posts, removed.

Well, this type of problem questions our understanding of reality and has been hotly debated amongst philosophers for many centuries. A modern take on the old riddle "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

On the 720p version the whistle is more evident.

Is it an engine, and did it run under FreeEMS control?
Seems like an easy #13 to me.

We are including engines on engine stands too, yes?

Nothing else was connected to it.

Yes, but if they get installed into a car later, that's the same engine IMO, not a new one.

Just tested various suspect things, found out what I was doing wrong, did the right thing, and on the same firmware, from the same load, with the same build date, I had a stableish idle, and a rmm rmmm rmmm controlled rev up. IE:

PEBDSAP

(Problem Existed Between Drivers Seat And Potentiometer)

13th, you're legitimately mine.
