Volvo 60-2 +1

As encouraged by Fred and perhaps for is explicit enjoyment I am going to run a volvo 5 banger turbo with Freeems.

Trigger is as the title would suggest:
crank 60-2
cam 1

This is what I have observed thus far as far as trigger timing as far as cyl#1 is concerned:

TDC #1 is slap bang in the center of T12 (tooth 12) so T1 is at 72deg BTDC

cam signal consists of a hall sensor and one tooth that is roughly half of the wheel

cam tooth starts at T29 (102deg ATDC)and finishes one crank revolution later.

is this trigger type catered for within the current decoders?

Requests/demands for further information are expected.

Standing by.

Yeah, it's covered, but performance is poor. Set rev limiter to 2500 or 3000 at the most until further notice. As for the cam sync and seq/COP, that's not covered yet, but I could hack it in for you pretty easily.

Would running this engine with this trigger setup be productive as far as development of the high count missing tooth decoders is concerned?

If the origin of the performance issue is known and just requires time to improve I could do one of a few things to make this engine run
without the 60-2.

I could reduce the number of teeth.
I could put another toothed trigger in place of the dizzy with a more appropriate number of teeth

or something else that may pop into my head in the coming weeks.

excellent..

Yeah, the issue is known. A 12-1 or 24-1 in the dizzy would work nicely for you, assuming a clean drive and proper signal handling.

Rightio, I shall come up with something cunning. a 12-1 or similar on the cam would negate the use of the single tooth cam sensor which will make mods to the old slater ecu easier.

Im going to use those bosch bips to control the coils.
In a box away from the ecu though.

rightio, time for some trickery.

hmm. a 1UZ crank trigger wheel mounted to the old dizzy drive pop's into mind...

time for a hand shandy then some sleep I think.

LOL @ public admissions of private self-pleasure.

What about a 24 tooth from a typical toymotor dizzy, with one removed.

I think I have a solution.

I need to put a manual flywheel on it so when I get one I'll chew some of the teeth off and run a crank and cam trigger.

is a set number on the crank better than a missing tooth arrangement?
seeing as i have a cam trigger for every 720deg

hmmm, just gotta find a flywheel..

meow

Right now, yes. How many are you thinking?

I was thinking 20

as i can just continue the missing 2 that the flywheel already has, just remove ever other two

I my even be able to chop the flexiplate teeth to suit

Ill give it a go today and see how nicely they let me remove them.

Incase im not clear. it has a flexiplate, with the 60-2.
but I need a flywheel. but for now ill see if i can mod the flexiplate.

That should work well. Too high would be risky, too low not accurate enough. I'll move this thread to user support after your next post.
