User Work And Prerequisite List

Post by Fred »

Now that we have a few users who are actually needing things done, I think it's time for a thread recording what needs doing, and what the users need to do first.

Given that the firmware is locked for my changes only until 0.2.0, at the earliest, to avoid time being wasted on merging and QC of submitted work; I need to do this work. If users are doing work, it won't be included in the main code for the time being and thus will be wasted effort. More on the process that it will take to get stuff into the firmware at a later date. I intend to be quite strict in quite a number of areas, however I have some work to do myself before I can lay that out.

I'm going to put up what I know about and a thread for specific requests with reasoning (as well as the issue tracker). No comments or discussion in the requests thread, put the time into your post to make it clear and concise up front, please. I'll add requests into this thread as they come up. viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1575

Preston hotel:

Currently the mighty hotel is running flawlessly using a slight hack. The hack needs to be upgraded to a real feature/fix, but is an ultra low priority. Preston owes me an updated ign timing tune for the car, too.

Old:

DONE: needs to provide a video of a hard start with a "kick back" and a matching datalog to go with it.
Log shows two effects, one to do with code and hardware interaction, the other a possible non-LDO regulator in use.
First thing, check regulator and replace with LDO if not already lm2940 or lm2937.
Issue logged, I'll try to get something out for this, even if it's a temp fix, soonish. http://issues.freeems.org/view.php?id=391

Preston 4age:

Needs to finish building the test rig such that it can be reliably and safely started at any random time on demand.
Needs to hook up his sensors and get it base tuned on MAP with a clean log.
Then I'll add alphaN and blend modes to try.

Old:

DONE: I need to dig up the correct hash for the old code and build a binary for him to try on the new puma which is giving him some mysterious troubles.

Sean (both):

Needs to test the temp commit that I made for a diffable end point to ensure it functions as he needs it to (IE, I didn't break anything with my changes).
He also needs to start with the commit that I gave him and rebuild his history on top of that point until he gets to the point of having a zero diff with the temp commit that I added as a reference.
I need to provide an interface to his pre-alpha xgate code so that he can more easily use it to run his car and his off roader.
I need to add alpha-N mode for his off roader and blend mode after that.

Marcos: Needs to fix up all of his sensor inputs and then test the new missing tooth code up to 2500 RPM. Then I need to optimise it for him and others.

Sim Volvo:

DONE: Needs to sort out his power supply issues (including a dedicated BRV sample wire)
And provide a clean log of it driving for 15mins or so without any such weirdness on the latest firmware.
Once he's done that I need to add coolant and air temperature ignition correction 2d maps for him.

spudmn:

DONE: Needs to provide a new log with his vacuum balance tube map connection in use.
Needs to provide two map sensor inputs for me +
I need add the configurable sampling code as mentioned in the issue tracker as part of 0.2.0.
Because he's not concerned about economy it can run like it is for the time being.
I also need to add alpha-N mode for this vehicle.

em_knaps:

FIXED Needs to provide a datalog taken while checking his timing. He says that he sees 5 degrees of wobble on his 12-1 setup with 15 degree spikes. Clearly that's not good enough, however it could be for any number of reasons; a datalog should reveal what those reasons are.
DONE Needs to hook up a wideband and show a fairly consistent tune.

This car: RIP!

Peter:

In progress: Needs to clean up his sensors and get his configuration in order
DONE, but no results: Along with research his injectors
DONE: And install his new wideband.
Needs to update his thermistor tables to be accurate.
DONE: Then once a good datalog is provided showing stable sensors (cept RPM) and good AFRs I need to add a special decoder just for the J series.

Andy:

DONE: Needs to get hw built and wired up and engine started without timing control.
DONE: Then he needs to fiddle with existing code and report back and maybe do me a fancy log from the OEM system too.
Then I MIGHT need to add a specific decoder to handle his DIS system, or I might not. Don't need it, but will be adding it anyway.
Need to add a new dwell mode which depends on some other work regarding cycle times and limits.
