That depends on what you mean, if you include the electric vehicles, that are all electronic, it's only 4. If you include the ones petro/hybrid it's only 10. If you include modified normal car modifications it's around 40 to 50. I don't see how that make impedance matching go away.

You've installed 40-50 engine management systems? Can you list the types please? I'm curious.

Impedance matching is done to transfer maximum energy from a very weak RF signal. We're talking about MUCH stronger signals and we're not interested in energy, we're interested in voltage, only, and a clean one at that. Your coax comments are way off the mark and, furthermore, I call bullshit on your claims of wiring.

Ok, if anyone can find an online supplier of such silicone mic cable you are entitled to call me stupid. I have given up searching.

Every cable that I have touched is PVC or fails the soldering test outlined above. I have silicone power cable in some of my RC stuff so have experienced what it should be like to touch and solder.

If the PVC stuff can tolerate soldering and the normal array of chemicals it's probably good enough. However, my suggestion may have lead you down the wrong path. Try searching for these instead:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETFE

By chemical name, abbreviation, or trade names (from various companies). This is the serious stuff, but thanks to china, it may be cheaper to get hold of now.

Some examples, though pricing isn't listed.

Good luck! :-)

Mc Master to the rescue!

up to 200 C, shielded and MIL spec, the bit that wins me is cut to length. Every other supplier is a ful roll only.

International shipping will hurt

Oden, I may be a little late, but try this:

http://www.steinair.com/storedetail.cfm?productid=224 EDIT: Prices by the foot!!! Watch that, metric people! :-)

They have a significant range of fairly reasonably priced high quality wire.

EDIT: When I emailed about the pricing they got back to me inside 2 minutes, awesome!

Looks cheap and crappy, note 80*C and stiff/not supple, but the post can stay as a reference :-)
